Helicopter Alignment System for Sub-Assemblies
A helicopter has many sub assemblies that must be correctly aligned and positioned. For the past 6 years, Pinpoint’s engneering team has been designing, building and testing specialty measuring and alignment systems for helicopters in the commercial and military fields. These systems have been used for positioning and aligning engine mounts, long shaft sections, gear boxes and other sub-assemblies. This photograph shows a Microgage laser transmitter on a custom, adjustable mount that connects to the engine mounts on a commercial helicopter. The laser reference beam points backwards on the helicopter to set the position of shaft mounts and other assemblies. The mount is machined from aluminum and steel with full adjustment capability for the laser transmitter.
