Alignment Laser for Steam Turbine Positioning
A major utility company approached Pinpoint with a problem of aligning large turbine mounts on their generating equipment. The Microgage 2D was selected for this application and the cylindrical laser transmitter needed to be adapted for a minor bore in the mounting configuration. Pinpoint designed and fabricated a precision stainless steel mounting shaft for the cylindrical laser shown in the accompanying photograph. A Microgage receiver and display unit were also used for locating the position of the laser beam and providing alignment information for the orientation of the mounts on the turbine system. Pinpoint’s engineering team draws on many years of experience designing and fabricating mounts and fixtures.
